An injury heals as fast as its oxygen supply allows, and swollen tissue gets the least of it. HBOT changes that: swelling comes down sooner, bruising clears in a couple of days, and torn muscle, tendon and ligament are rebuilt with a full supply instead of a rationed one. The injury you had given up on finishes healing.
Swelling squeezes shut the small vessels around an injury, so the tissue with the most repair to do gets the thinnest supply. Rest only waits that out. In the chamber, oxygen dissolves into the liquid part of your blood and gets straight into swollen tissue. The repair gets its materials from day one.
The first days of a recovery are the ones that change most. Swelling comes down within the first few sessions, the area calms, and the inflammation behind it eases. New wounds close quickly and cleanly. Guests tell us the area goes from hot and reactive to quiet far sooner than past injuries taught them to expect.
Then the rebuild. From the second week onward, new blood vessels grow into the damaged area, stem cells go to work, and muscle, nerve and connective tissue are rebuilt properly. Keep going and the injury that flares every few months stops flaring, because this time it has actually healed.
Six changes recovering guests come here for.
Puffy, hot, angry tissue settles fast. Oxygen at pressure gets into the swollen area regardless of the squeeze, calms the inflammation and clears the bruising. Guests report the swelling going down within their first few sessions and bruising clearing in a couple of days.
Torn muscle fibre is rebuilt with a full oxygen supply instead of whatever trickles through. The area goes quiet sooner and strength comes back sooner. The strain that would normally have you out for six weeks has you back training well ahead of that.
These are the slow healers, because they have so little blood supply of their own. Dissolved oxygen reaches them where red blood cells cannot. Over a run of sessions the strain that has hung around for months finally settles and stays settled.
The first weeks after surgery decide much of the result, and this is where HBOT is at its most impressive. Swelling drops away, bruising clears in days, the wound closes cleanly and the scar line calms while it forms. Guests tell us it was the easiest recovery they have had, and their surgeons notice the difference at the follow-up.
Physio gives the tissue instructions. Oxygen gives it the materials. Guests pair the two, so every appointment builds on more finished repair, and the hours between appointments are doing something too.
The knee that never quite came right, the shoulder that flares every winter. These are injuries that never had a proper supply behind them. Across a long run of sessions, new blood vessels grow through the tissue and the repair that stalled years ago gets completed.
The mechanism, in three moves.
At pressure, oxygen loads into blood plasma at many times the ordinary level. Red cells are no longer the only couriers; the fluid itself carries the payload.
Plasma filters through swollen, compressed tissue that turns red cells away, so the surplus arrives exactly where the deficit is.
Fibroblasts, immune cells and the vessel-building crews all work in oxygen. Fed properly, the repair machinery has what it came for.
The site is inflamed, warm and sealed tight. This is where pressure earns its keep, because very little else is getting much in.
Collagen laid, vessels regrown, tissue knitted: the most oxygen-hungry stretch, and where guests run the core of a protocol.
New tissue organises and strengthens over months. Longer protocols reach into this phase; so do top-up blocks after a major operation.
Independent, peer-reviewed studies, summarised plainly. We claim nothing beyond what they report: HBOT is a wellness therapy, not a medical treatment.
HBOT is a complementary wellness therapy. Results vary between individuals, and we make no medical claims. Recovering from an operation? Ask your surgeon about timing before reserving a post-operative protocol.
The Bounce-Back concentrates twenty sessions into a single month: six a week for the first three weeks while the site settles and rebuilds, then two in the fourth. It is the protocol our benched athletes take.
Recovering from surgery instead? The Comeback - Light runs the same idea across the post-operative month, and longer versions exist for bigger rebuilds. Call with the injury and the date, and we will match the protocol to it in five minutes.
Call 07378 271411 and talk it through →Every new guest completes a short health and safety screening when they book, or a 5 to 10 minute call if you would rather talk it through. If anything needs checking, we call you before your first session.
Most guests arrive for one reason and stay for another. The one in green is the page you are on.
Sessions are valid for 12 months from the day you buy them.
